PROF. DR. MED. NIKOLAI HOPF, MD (USMLE)
"I DON'T SHAVE HAIR... HEALTHY PATIENTS SHOULD ALSO LOOK HEALTHY SOON AFTER SURGERY! "
Since the 1990s, Professor Hopf has played a decisive role in the development of endoscope-assisted microsurgery and endoscopic skull-base surgery, and has acquired special expertise in the transcranial and transnasal endoscopic treatment of tumours of the central cranial base (sella region), the brain stem and spinal cord, and the pineal region. From 2005 to 2014, Professor Hopf held a teaching position at the Johannes Gutenberg University (Mainz) and at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen.
From 2009 to 2012, Professor Hopf was editor-in-chief of the international journal “Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery” and subsequently of its successor “Innovative Neurosurgery”. Among other things, he has published extensively on the endoscopic treatment of hydrocephalus and arachnoid cysts and on the minimally invasive treatment of complex cerebral vascular diseases such as multiple brain aneurysms. His post-doctoral lecturing qualification paper discussed the migratory activity of brain tumour cells. Professor Hopf’s scientific interest continues to focus on neuro-oncology and the development of new minimally invasive surgical techniques and instruments.
